Your Doable Flossing Routine Featured

09 Dec

Flossing is probably the easiest thing you can do for your oral health, but for some reason it is also one of the hardest. Why is that? It doesn't cost that much (usually around 5 bucks or less). It is easy and not painful. And if you are brushing your teeth at night, it really shouldn't be an issue. But, alas, it is. To get us motivated to floss more (as in everyday), we set up some easy and doable guidelines to make cleaning your teeth a part of life.

  1. Keep it out. Floss is usually contained in the dark crevises of a medicine cabinet. Be conscious of where you place those stringy fabrics. We have been keeping them out after work to just remind ourselves to use them.
  2. Keep it scented. The scented floss rocks! We love Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Comfort Plus Floss (quite the long name, right?) that is scented with mint for a gentle party-in-your-mouth vibe. That doesn't dirty at all. Not one bit.
  3. See the evidence of your labor. Ok, this is a little gross but check out the nasty gritty bits from your floss. Gross, right? Well, if they weren't on your floss, they would be in your month festering in their and maybe even creating a cavity. Look and be thankful you aren't going to sleep with a mouth filled with your remnants from your kale salad.
  4. Make regular dentist visits. One of the things our dentists always ask us is 'do you floss?' We nod and say sure thing, but they know. That guilt lives with us, and you know what we finally floss (see step 1).
  5. Track it. This one is a little out there, but why not track when you floss? We all have so many things going on that maybe you need to write down when you floss. After 30 days, this can become a regular part of your life where you hopefully won't have to chart your flossing adventures anymore.

How do you maintain flossing in your life? What floss do you use?
